The recycling angelBridport tlc is a community recycling project which is developing sustainable waste & recycling initiatives alongside local schools & businesses. We are a volunteer-led group, offering solutions to improving our local environment & contributing to a sustainable local economy.

Our Agenda

– We have no agenda.

Our Aims

– To work in partnership with any group, business, organisation or individual who wants local solutions to the waste we produce, the energy we use, and the impact we make on resources. To support all those working towards a more sustainable, climate-friendly environment that is required in these times of change.

Who Are We?

Bridport tlc is the realisation of an idea by Leon Edwards and Tess Dickson, two community workers & environmental artists in West Dorset, who, recognising the need to act now regarding carbon emissions, went for it in September 2005! Having contributed their own funds as a start-up donation they formed a non-profit social initiative with other volunteers, set up premises and built & installed equipment.

Our activities at present contribute to reducing local landfill by over 5 tons per week, and an estimated reduction in CO2 emissions of 60 tonnes pa through a combination of biodiesel production, our rickshaws and our recycled bicycle fleet.

There is no reason why every town couldn’t have a community-based recycling project to address the urgent need to tackle climate change. If we all gave our local environments a bit more ‘TLC’ we can seriously make a dent in our collective footprints. We are happy to share our experiences and ‘wisdom’ with other groups.
